The world is full of beautiful things, created in past times by expert craftspeople. Sunday at the Villa is breathing life into them once more, renewed and loved again.

Taking something old, using what is special about it, to make it more special, and allowing someone to love it afresh.

Jo studied Womenswear Design at Central St Martins, one of the world’s most prestigious fashion colleges. From there she went to work with high end designers at Chloe and Paul Smith before moving on to fast and affordable fashion - designing press collections and consulting on trends for Tesco, exploring heritage for Laura Ashley and most recently, pioneering sustainable fashion for Fatface.

Jo learned much of her craft lovingly restoring and selling vintage clothes at the famous Antique Clothing Shop, 282 Portobello Road. The store was a magnet for designers, journalists and fashionistas the world over. Designers such as John Galliano, Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen were all regular customers, searching for inspiration for their seasonal catwalk collections. From fashion students keen to learn about clothing from decades gone by to stylish in-the-know Londoners, all were looking for something truly unique by browsing the hand picked selection from infamous owner Sandy Stagg’s treasure trove.

During her time at Fatface, Jo explored ways to make some of their bestselling products more sustainable, and worked with ethical manufacturers from around the world, while still ensuring affordability for their customers. This included introducing recycled cotton denim, waterless washing, laser finishing and BCI cotton as standard.

Sunday at the Villa sees Jo bring together her passion for vintage with the ever more urgent need to produce beautiful fashion sustainably.
